Proclamation

Whereas, Jerry Thompson served 35 years with the Virginia State Police with honor and integrity; and,

Whereas, Jerry Thompson proudly served as Sheriff of Bland County for 12 years; and,

Whereas, Jerry Thompson served his country in the United States Army and United States Army Reserve; and,

Whereas, Jerry Thompson was an avid member and the Chief Coffee Maker of the Bland County Liar's Club; and,

Whereas, Jerry Thompson was a member of the American Legion Post #20, Central United Methodist Church, Wythe County Community Hospital Patient and Family Advisory Council, and Bland Masonic Lodge #206; and,

Whereas, Jerry Thompson was Chair of the Bland County Electoral Board; and,

Whereas, Jerry Thompson was a long-standing member and former chair of the Bland County Republican Committee; and,

Whereas, Jerry Thompson was a beloved mentor, advisor, and friend to all who knew him; and,

Whereas, the Bland County Republican Committee desires to extend their condolences and upmost respect to Jerry Thompson's family.

Now, therefore, be it resolved, that the Bland County Republican Committee hereby names the Bland County GOP Headquarters in his honor and memory as "The Jerry Thompson Center:  Home of the Bland GOP".
