The Bland County Republican Committee is pleased to announce our endorsement of Jerri E. Harman for Bland County School Board, representing the Rocky Gap District, for the November 2, 2021 General Election. Jerri is a life-long resident of Rocky Gap, a graduate of Rocky Gap High School, and has earned degrees in Business Administration and Computer Science, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration. She previously served as Chairman of the Bland County School Board, for all four years of her previous term, having been elected to serve from 2014 thru 2017.
Jerri’s leadership, experience, and education helped lead the school system to many improvements. During her tenure, she led the School Board through consolidation; achieved a balanced budget after years of using the Virginia State Lottery funds to balance the yearly budget; and added additional course choices to the high school curriculum. In addition, at Bland County High School, much needed bathroom renovations, parking lot, and sidewalk improvements were made. At Bland County Elementary School, improvements were made to the front entry steps, auditorium, and the Chromebook initiative began for the 5th and 6th grades.
As a Constitutional Conservative and in accord with the principals of the Republican Party, Jerri has the proven ability to work well within a team environment; a commitment to serve all students; a desire to build a strong relationship between the school board and the public; a knowledge and understanding of policies, needs, strengths, and challenges of the school community; and has demonstrated the commitment to the time and energy, which is necessary to fulfill the roll of being a member of the School Board.
She has served on numerous boards and committees, including the Rocky Gap Ruritan Club, serving as their current Secretary. In conclusion, Jerri has the qualifications needed to guide Bland County Public Schools for the four years. She has the knowledge, experience, education, and ability to lead Bland County Public Schools into the future.
